About Korea Insight Now

Korea Insight Now is an English-language guide to Korea for international readers. We write for people who are planning a first trip, coming back for a second one, living in Korea for study or work, or simply enjoying K-culture from home and wanting to understand it better.

Our goal is simple: explain the things locals take for granted, in plain English, so you can make good decisions on your own. How do you top up a subway card? What should you order at a Korean BBQ place? Which apps actually work for foreign visitors? We answer questions like these with clear steps, real examples, and maps where they help.

How we write and check our content

  • Official sources first. For prices, rules, schedules, and services, we check official sources such as the Korea Tourism Organization (VisitKorea), government sites, and operators' own pages, and we list our sources at the end of each guide.
  • No guessing. If we cannot confirm a price, opening hour, or date, we do not invent one. When details change often, we tell you where to check before you go.
  • Dates matter. Many posts include the year or the date of the information. Festival dates that have not been announced yet are marked as based on previous years.
  • Written for readers, not translated. We write original English guides instead of translating Korean news word for word.
  • Honest about our tools. We use research and writing tools, including AI-assisted drafting, to work efficiently. Every post is reviewed and approved by our editor before it is published.
  • Photos and maps. Photos come from openly licensed sources such as Wikimedia Commons, with the author and license credited, or are our own illustrations. Maps link to Google Maps.
  • No paid placements disguised as advice. We do not accept payment to recommend a specific restaurant, clinic, or shop. If that ever changes for a post, we will say so clearly in that post.

Korea changes fast, and we sometimes get things wrong. If you spot an error or outdated information, please tell us through our Contact page with the post link and what needs fixing.
